Terry began working with photography and in this medium he developed his artistic sensibilities and distinctive style. Terry's work is informed from his childhood and youth spent growing up on the Canadian prairie, resulting in work characterized by dramatic use of light and shadow, and unadorned images. He studied etching with Richard Hayman at the “Art School of Peterborough” for a number of years, and has pursued other media including pen and ink, oils and mixed media through lessons with local artists and through the “Haliburton School of the Arts”. He has been studying classical drawing with Pauline Bradshaw for the last three years. Working with Pauline has allowed him to improve his drawing skills and became immersed in the challenge of this rigorous and exact procedure of classical drawing using graphite and charcoal.
